Mr. Rick Brown MA (Cantab) MB BS FRCS (Tr&Ortho)
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon

I graduated from the University of Cambridge in 1989 and then King's College Hospital, London in 1993. My specialist Orthopaedic training was at the Middlesex Hospital, Central London, and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, London.

I have been an established Consultant for since 2004. I developed a new dedicated Foot and Ankle service, during 12 years in Cheltenham, before being appointed as a Consultant in The Oxford Universities Hospitals Trust in 2016. My interest in all Foot & Ankle conditions was inspired by completion of advanced training in Foot & Ankle Surgery at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and Middlesex Hospital London as well as a Fellowship at The Children's Hospital, Westmead, Sydney, Australia. In 2002 I was an International Fellow at Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA.

I strongly believe in teaching the next generation of surgeons, and as the Chairman of the Education Committee of the British Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society, I am often a Course Director and Faculty member on many National and International Foot and Ankle Courses.

I maintain the standard for newly qualified Consultants as an Examiner of the FRCS (Tr&Orth), the highest level of orthopaedic qualification.

My elective practice is exclusively Foot & Ankle surgery. This is mostly adults but I do see older children with Foot and Ankle conditions. My interests are in ankle arthritis, painful forefoot problems, sports injuries, minimally invasive hindfoot surgery and complex conditions due to underlying problems.

Mr Simon Clint BSc, MB BS, FRCS (Tr & Ortho)
Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon

I graduated from University College London in 1995 and from the University College and Middlesex School of Medicine in 1998. Having developed an interest in foot and ankle surgery early on as a junior doctor, I went on to obtain my higher surgical training in London, which I was able to tailor to my interests. My specialist foot and ankle training was completed with multiple fellowships. I spent a year on two fellowships at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore, eight months at The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and a month at the Russian Ilizarov Scientific Centre for Restorative Traumatology and Orthopaedics.

In early 2010, I was appointed as a Consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon in Cheltenham General Hospital and helped Rick Brown expand and develop the Foot and Ankle service there. This has allowed me to teach nationally and internationally on foot and ankle surgery.

Since moving to Gloucestershire I have developed an ever growing interest in sports medicine. In my spare time I am one of the doctors for Gloucester Rugby, Cheltenham Race Course and several major Eventing competitions including Badminton and Gatcombe. I have acted as an advisor to Gloucester Rugby and Cheltenham Town Football Club for many years and recently been approached to get involved on a national level. One of the highlights was being an orthopaedic matchday doctor for several Rugby World Cup matches in 2015.

My elective practice is exclusively in the foot and ankle, with interests in all areas. I also have a strong interest in trauma of the foot and ankle. A significant proportion of my NHS operating is spent fixing acute injuries around the foot and ankle.
